summer in the city

My feelings for New York are complicated; I was born-but-not-entirely-raised there; I spent all of my childhood summers in New York, but I consider myself an Oregonian; My father has lived and breathed NYC for all of his 60-something years; New York is in my blood, but I don't often feel like I belong there. This family, however, they are NEW YORKERS. Living in Tribeca just blocks from Battery Park City, where we captured these images that make me smile more every time I look at them. Thanks to the magical internet, by way of Instagram, Susan found me when I announced travel sessions earlier this year. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with her and her incredibly spirited family on one perfectly New York summer evening. Enjoy!
