Best of 2019

In 2019 I photographed:

67 families

92 sessions

250 people, 15 dogs, 5 cats, 4 goats, 2 chickens, 1 guinea pig, and countless stuffed animals

in 23 homes, 4 vacation houses, 3 hotels, 2 boats, 1 lodge, 1 restaurant, 1 campsite, and a prison

on mountains, beaches, parks, gardens, farms, lakes, and even a fjord

in Oregon, Washington, California, Louisiana, North and South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Atlanta and Australia

using 4 cameras, 8 SD cards, and many many rolls of film

…and because my photo work is not all that fills my time and heart,  I wrote a class for Illuminate, taught two weeks of summer camp through Vibe of Portland, and co-organized two more rounds of The Family Narrative retreats; I also attended a photo conference, spent a weekend in a cabin with some dear friends, got pranked by hilarious clients, hosted a surprise baby-welcoming brunch for a bestie, met up with photo friends on a monthly basis, read some really good books (though not nearly enough), bought an espresso machine, and played a few too many hours of Luigi’s Haunted Mansion while eating a few too many Haribo sweet & sour gummy snakes (because sometimes you just have to chill TFO). Oh, and my kiddo started middle school, my brother moved in with us, and we got our first puppy. Approximately 100,000 other thing happened that were either documented on my phone and/or in our hearts.

Needless to say, narrowing down my favorite images of the year always feels like an impossible task, but I force myself to do it because I always enjoy viewing a collection of my year’s work all tidied up and (somewhat) cohesive. So here you have it, my 2019 summarized in 3 minutes and 41 seconds.

In the wise words of Stevie Nicks: the feeling remains even after the glitter fades. Thanks for adding to the layers of glitter wrapped around my heart dear friends, clients, family, and pets…

xx, PQ

PS - 2020 is going to find me photographing families ALL over the country as my family (puppy and all) plan to pack up an RV and drive across the US. If you’d like to learn more about where we’ll be stopping (and photographing families) hit me up with an email: posy@photoposy.com.
